From tomorrow, August 14, the MCC is all set to begin the registration for the NEET UG 2024 counseling. This critical phase is for students who want to get admitted to MBBS, BDS and BSc (Nursing) courses under different quotas, including the prestigious 15% All India Quota (AIQ).
The candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2024 are allowed to register their profile in the official website of MCC at mcc.nic.in. This is an important first step in obtaining a medical or dental seat and the application period for this will remain open until August 21, 2024.
The MCC has laid out a detailed agenda for the first round of counselling:
Activity | Dates | Details |
---|---|---|
Verification of tentative seat matrix | August 14 and 16 | Participating institutes confirm the seat matrix available for counselling. |
Registration and Payment | August 14 to 21 | Registration opens at 12 noon on Aug 14 and closes at noon on Aug 21; payment facilities close at 3 PM on Aug 21. |
Choice Filling and Locking | August 16 to 20 | Candidates select and lock their choices of colleges and courses. |
Processing of Seat Allotment | August 21 to 22 | The MCC processes the seat allotment based on locked-in choices. |
Result | August 23 | The seat allotment results are announced. |
Reporting and Joining | August 24 to 29 | Selected candidates must report and join their allotted colleges. |
Verification of Joined Candidates' Data | August 30 to 31 | Institutes verify the data of candidates who have joined. |
Before proceeding to the registration and choice filling, the candidates are advised to verify their eligibility and domicile at mcc.nic.in for the institutional quota seats of central universities such as JIPMER and to be aware of the fee structure particularly of the deemed universities. After registration, candidates will indicate their choices of medical and dental colleges and courses which is important in determining their careers in the health sector.
After the declaration of seat allotment results, the candidates who got a seat in the first round can either confirm the seat or apply for an upgrade in the second round and for this, the candidates have to report physically with original documents to the allotted college. The second round will be open for all those who did not get a seat in the first round and they will not need to register again.
MCC’s counseling encompasses a significant number of seats:
With around 1.10 lakh MBBS seats in about 710 medical colleges and 21,000 BDS seats across the country, the counselling rounds promise to address the aspirations of thousands of NEET qualifiers.
For the next round of admission, Round 2 registration is expected to begin on September 4 and 5, 2024, while seat allotment and verification will be from September 11 and 12, 2024. The candidates who clear this round are required to submit their reports and join their respective institutes by September 14-20, 2024.
