The NEET re-examination is set for June 21, 2026 . The National Testing Agency (NTA) has introduced new security measures and provisions for this offline exam. It will run from 2 PM to 5:15 PM, with an extended duration of 195 minutes, 15 minutes longer than the original 180 minutes. Candidates are not required to pay any extra fees for this re-exam. The deadline to submit and verify bank account details for the NEET fee refund has been extended to June 22, 2026 .
Security Enhancements
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is transporting sealed question papers nationwide using aircraft and helicopters. This aims to prevent leaks and ensure exam integrity. Paper setters for the re-exam were kept in isolation during the preparation process. AI surveillance cameras will be used at exam centers for monitoring. Candidates will undergo stringent security checks, including special frisking for those in specific attire like full sleeves or religious garments. They must report early within the designated window, as gates close sharply after the cut-off time. Only permitted items like admit cards, photo IDs, photographs, and transparent water bottles are allowed. Diabetic candidates can carry approved food items.
Exam Logistics and Candidate Support
The exam duration has been increased to 195 minutes from 180 minutes. This change aims to reduce last-minute pressure and improve candidate performance. Several state governments are providing free bus travel for NEET aspirants to reach their exam centers. These include Bihar, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh government offers a 50% bus fare concession on UPSRTC buses for candidates presenting their admit cards.
Special Provisions for Candidates
Candidates had the option to update their present address and select two city preferences. Those facing issues related to the previous exam can submit grievances via the NTA helpdesk. Special provisions for Persons with Disabilities (PwD/PwBD) include scribe facilities and compensatory time as per guidelines. In cases of biometric verification failure due to technical issues or physical limitations, candidates will be allowed manual verification to ensure entry.
Combating Misinformation and Fraud
Authorities are actively countering fake paper-leak claims and scams. A dedicated reporting system is in place for suspicious messages, websites, and social media posts. Candidates are advised to rely solely on official NTA updates and report fraudulent attempts to NTA or cyber-crime authorities. Telegram was temporarily restricted across India until June 22 due to concerns about cheating rackets using the platform. Its message editing feature is disabled until June 30.
Multi-Layered Identity Verification
NEET aspirants will face a three-tier screening process at exam center entry gates. This includes physical admit card cross-matching, Aadhaar-linked digital fingerprint scans, and AI facial recognition. This system is designed to prevent proxy candidates from appearing for the exam.
