How NEET PG Seats are Allotted

The MCC uses a computer-based system to allot seats. This system makes sure the process is fair and transparent. Here is how it works:

  • First, candidates must have finished their registration and filled their choices of colleges and courses.
  • The computer system then looks at several factors for each candidate:
    • Their rank in the NEET PG exam .
    • The list of choices they filled, from first preference to last.
    • The total number of available seats (also called the 'seat matrix') for each course and college.
    • The category of the candidate (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, etc.).
  • The system tries to give candidates their highest possible choice. It checks if a seat is available for the candidate's first choice. If not, it moves to the second choice, and so on.
  • This process continues until a seat is found for the candidate based on their rank and available seats.

What Happens After the Result?

Candidates must understand the next steps after the NEET PG Round 1 seat allotment results are out.

If You Get a Seat

  • If the MCC allots you a seat in Round 1, you must report to that college.
  • The reporting period is from November 9 to 15, 2025 .
  • At the college, you need to complete all admission steps. This includes submitting documents and paying the required fees.
  • Check the college website or your allotment letter for exact details on documents and fees.

If You Do Not Get a Seat

  • If you do not get a seat in Round 1, you do not need to do anything immediately.
  • You are automatically eligible to participate in Round 2 of counselling.
  • In Round 2, you can fill new choices of colleges and courses.

Understanding "Free Exit" in Round 1

  • MCC offers a "free exit" option for candidates in Round 1 only.
  • This means if you are allotted a seat in Round 1 but do not want to join it, you can leave it.
  • There will be no penalty for leaving the seat in Round 1.
  • You will still be able to take part in the future rounds of NEET PG counselling.

Candidates must regularly check the official website of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for all official updates and announcements related to NEET PG counselling. This will ensure you have the latest and correct information.
