Understanding the Counselling Steps

The NEET PG counselling process involves several key steps. Each step must be completed by the student within the given time frame:

  • Online Registration: This is the first step. Students must visit the official MCC website, create an account using their email and mobile number, and pay the counselling application fees. Without registration, a student cannot participate.
  • Choice Filling: After registration, students can log in and select their preferred medical colleges and specialty courses. They can list as many options as they want in order of their preference. It is important to fill choices carefully.
  • Choice Locking: Once choices are filled, students must "lock" them by the specified deadline. Locking choices means confirming your final list of preferred colleges and courses. If a student forgets to lock, their last saved choices will be locked automatically.
  • Seat Allotment Result: The MCC will process all applications and announce which college and course each student has been provisionally allotted. This decision is based on the student's rank in NEET PG, the number of seats available (seat matrix), government reservation rules, and the choices filled by the student.
  • Reporting to Allotted College: Students who receive a seat must download their allotment letter and visit the assigned college. They need to report to the college within the given dates to verify their documents and complete the remaining admission formalities. This step confirms their admission.

Key Points for Candidates

  • The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is responsible for conducting counselling for 50% of the All India Quota (AIQ) seats in post-graduate medical programmes. State counselling bodies handle the remaining seats.
  • Before starting the registration, it is very important for all students to carefully read the eligibility conditions mentioned by MCC. Make sure you meet all necessary requirements.
  • If a candidate is found not to meet the eligibility criteria at any point during the counselling, their allotted seat will be cancelled immediately.
  • Seats are given based on a student's performance (merit) in the NEET PG exam, the details in the seat matrix, applicable reservation criteria, and the preferences (choices) filled by the candidate.
  • For the latest updates, detailed information, and official notices, students should regularly visit the official MCC website.
