NEET 2027 to be Computer-Based Test (CBT)

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will transition to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format starting in the 2027 academic year . Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the shift. This change aims to enhance exam security and transparency. The decision follows paper leak incidents during the 2026 NEET examination . These leaks led to the cancellation of the main exam. A re-exam was conducted on June 21, 2026. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the 2026 paper leak. The new CBT mode requires students to answer questions on a computer screen. The traditional OMR-based system will end after the 2026 exam cycle. The existing exam pattern will remain unchanged. This includes the 720-mark structure. Questions will continue to cover Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Students preparing for the 2027 exam should practice computer-based mock tests. This will help them adapt to the online interface. Minister Pradhan stated investigations will continue. Those involved in the paper leak will face legal consequences. The shift to CBT is part of government efforts to strengthen the examination system. The government has previously formed committees to address exam concerns.
