The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is revising Political Science textbooks for Class 11 and 12. A new team, led by political expert Sandeep Shastri, is developing the updated curriculum. The revisions will incorporate Indian knowledge systems and cultural roots. The Class 11 book is due by November. The Class 12 book is scheduled for completion by July of next year.
The development team comprises academics and educators from across India. Members include individuals with documented affiliations to the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the BJP. These members are Yadunath Deshpande, Prashant Divekar, Vandana Mishra, and Ravi Rameshchandra Shukla. Other contributors are from institutions like JNU, National Law University, Delhi University, IGNOU, Pondicherry University, and Utkal University. NCERT officials and school educators are also part of the team.
Curriculum Changes Detail
NCERT aims to integrate themes like 'cultural rootedness and Indian knowledge systems.' The curriculum will also focus on inclusion and educational technology. Multilingual perspectives and interdisciplinary connections are key goals. Students will learn about ancient Indian science, math, and art. Famous Indian personalities will be featured.
