The University of Mumbai (MU) released its first undergraduate merit list on May 26, 2026. The list shows a clear trend: cut-off marks for specialized, self-financed courses have increased, while those for Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BSc) programs have dropped.

Prestigious colleges like Mithibai, Narsee Monjee, and HR College report higher cut-offs for industry-oriented degrees. These programs often require near-perfect scores for admission. In contrast, basic science and humanities courses have seen lower cut-off requirements.

Even top institutions are reducing merit thresholds for BA and BSc programs. This indicates a shift in student preference towards vocational and specialized fields.

Admission Process and Deadlines

The entire admission process is managed online via the Samarth website. Students who secured a seat in the first round must complete document verification and fee payment by the specified deadlines.
