Madhya Pradesh school teachers will now have an extended summer vacation until June 7, 2026 . The Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) issued an order modifying the academic calendar. This decision follows a severe heatwave across the state. Temperatures have surpassed 45°C in several districts.
The extension aims to protect teachers' health and well-being. Teachers worked through the heat. They evaluated state board exams and compiled results. They also conducted national data collection surveys. The order was signed by Commissioner of Public Instruction, Abhishek Singh. It has been sent to District Collectors and DEOs.
Teachers' Summer Vacation Extended
The modified vacation schedule applies to all government, aided, and recognized schools. Teachers can now remain on vacation until June 7. This does not affect other holidays like Dussehra or Diwali.
The previous academic calendar required amendments. This was due to the prevailing heatwave conditions. The health of the faculty was a primary concern. Teachers performed essential duties during the hot months.
