Mumbai: Students planning to appear for the Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) 2026 can breathe a sigh of relief. This important state-level exam is for students who want to join engineering, pharmacy, and agriculture courses in Maharashtra colleges. The Commissioner of the State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Maharashtra, Dileep Sardesai , has confirmed that no student will be stopped from taking the exam if their personal details in Aadhaar or APAAR ID do not perfectly match their other documents. This update comes as students are currently registering for the test.

The MHT CET 2026 registration process is currently underway. Students must apply online by February 12 . From this year, it is compulsory to use both Aadhaar and APAAR ID for registration. Many students had worried that small differences in their names or other details might cause problems during application. Mr. Sardesai addressed these concerns in a recent press conference, ensuring a fair and smooth application process for all eligible students.

Important Dates for MHT CET 2026 Registration

Here are the key dates for applying to MHT CET 2026 :

EventDate
Application Start Date(Not specified in original, implying it started earlier)
Last Date to Apply Online February 12

Students must visit the official website to complete their application before the deadline.

Solving Mismatched Details

Dileep Sardesai explained that minor mistakes or differences in document details will not lead to disqualification. He stated, “During the counselling process, if there’s a minor or spelling mismatch in Aadhaar and other documents, it will be resolved through other supporting documents.” This means students will get a chance to fix these issues later. For example, if your name is spelled slightly differently on your Aadhaar card compared to your school marksheet, you will be able to prove your identity using other papers during the counselling rounds after the exam.

However, if a student has a major name change, they will need to provide proper official documents to support this change. It is important to keep all official documents ready and valid.

How to Create Your APAAR ID

The CET Commissioner also spoke about creating the APAAR ID , which is needed for registration. He assured students that this process is simple. The CET Cell has put a detailed guide, known as a user manual, on its official website. This guide provides step-by-step instructions for Aadhaar verification and creating the APAAR ID .

To create an APAAR ID , students first need to have a DigiLocker account. This is a secure online platform for storing your documents. If you don't have one, you will need to create it first. After setting up your DigiLocker account, you can then proceed to link your Aadhaar and create your APAAR ID by following the steps in the user manual. Students can still proceed with registration even if some of their documents or marksheets are not immediately available. They can get their ID first and upload the missing documents later. This helps ensure that no student misses the application deadline because of waiting for all paperwork.

Name Variations on Admit Card

Mr. Sardesai also clarified what happens if a student's name appears differently on various documents, such as their Aadhaar card, board marksheets, and other records. He stated that all different versions of the student's name will be printed on the MHT CET 2026 admit card . This helps prevent confusion and ensures that students are not denied entry to the exam hall because of minor variations in their name across different official records.

Students should refer to the official MHT CET website for the detailed user manual and any further updates. Following the instructions carefully will help ensure a smooth registration for the MHT CET 2026 exam.
