Meghalaya Board to Conduct SSLC Exams in December Starting from 2025-26 Academic Session

In a significant move to reform the academic schedule, the Education Department of Meghalaya has announced that the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Examination will now be held in December, beginning with the 2025-26 academic session. The decision, aimed at bringing greater uniformity to the academic calendar, was shared through an official notification issued to all stakeholders.

SSLC Form Submission to Begin in August 2025

As per the notification from the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE), the process for submission of SSLC exam forms will commence in August 2025. All affiliated schools must ensure the forms are submitted within August and September, with specific submission dates to be released separately by the board.

No Mandatory Selection Test for Affiliated Schools

Affiliated schools have been granted flexibility regarding student assessments. They are not required to conduct a standalone Selection Test. Instead, continuous evaluation methods such as half-yearly examinations, class tests, and internal assessments will serve as the basis for student eligibility. However, schools that prefer to hold a separate Selection Test are allowed to do so and can independently decide the format and schedule.

Selection Test Mandatory for Unaffiliated Schools

In contrast, unaffiliated schools will continue to follow a standardised assessment model. The District School Education Officers (DSEOs) will organise the Selection Test for these institutions, based on the format adopted during the 2024 session. This ensures consistency in student evaluation across schools not officially affiliated with MBoSE.

MBOSE SSLC 2026 Exams to Begin Mid-December

The SSLC 2025-26 board examinations are scheduled to commence in the second week of December 2025 and conclude by December 19, 2025. The detailed date sheet will be issued shortly, outlining subject-wise schedules and exam-day guidelines.

Evaluation to Start Post-Christmas, Results by February 2026

To accommodate the holiday season, paper evaluation will only begin in the second week of January 2026, after Christmas. The SSLC 2026 results are expected to be declared by the third week of February, ensuring minimal disruption to the upcoming academic session.

Supplementary Exams Scheduled for March 2026

Students who fail to clear the main SSLC examinations will be given a chance to appear for the supplementary exams in March 2026. The MBOSE SSLC Supplementary Result 2026 is expected to be announced by the first week of April, facilitating the smooth commencement of Class XI classes.

This revamped academic framework is part of Meghalaya’s broader initiative to align its school calendar with national standards while ensuring timely evaluations and academic transitions. Further updates regarding timetables and assessment formats are awaited from MBoSE.
