Who Can Apply? Eligibility Details
The MBOSE Class 12 exam has different rules for various types of candidates:
Regular Candidates (I and II)
These are students who attend schools approved by MBOSE or other schools. They must have passed the internal selection tests conducted by their school.
Non-Regular Candidates
These are students who failed in more than two subjects in their previous MBOSE exams. They must reappear for all subjects without any changes to their chosen subjects.
Compartmental Candidates
These students failed in three or fewer subjects in a previous exam. They get only two chances to clear these subjects. If they fail to clear within two attempts, they will be considered non-regular candidates.
Improvement Candidates
Students from the 2025 batch who wish to improve their scores can reattempt subjects. They are allowed only one chance for improvement.
Private Candidates
Private candidates can only apply for the Arts stream. They need prior permission from MBOSE. They also must have passed a Class 11 internal exam after registering with the board.
Rules for Students with Disabilities (PWD)
MBOSE offers special exemptions for Persons with Disabilities, including students with visual or hearing impairments. These students may not need to appear for certain subjects like MIL (Modern Indian Language) or Alternative English. They are also waived from paying examination fees. To get these benefits, students must submit a Unique Disability ID (UDID).
Environmental Education Grades
For regular candidates, grades in Environmental Education will be decided by their school (internally assessed). These grades must be entered into the application forms. The grading scale ranges from **A (86%-100%)** to **E (0%-35%)**.
