Three more individuals were apprehended Tuesday in connection with the Maharashtra Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 paper leak. The arrests bring the total number of individuals in custody to seven.
Arrests Made in Paper Leak Investigation
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Maharashtra State detained Sonu Singh, Mithun Singh, and Kapil Dahiya. Dahiya was arrested in Pathankot, Mithun Singh in Bihar, and Sonu Singh in Hajipur. Police are still searching for alleged mastermind Bijendra Gupta.
An SIT statement indicated the alleged paper leak network operated across four states: Delhi, Agra, Bihar, and Haryana. Sonu Singh reportedly prepared forged documents for Gupta. Investigators believe the leaked papers were printed at facilities linked to Singh.
The investigation has expanded to multiple states. Authorities previously arrested Bijendra Gupta's wife, Suman, based on call records and financial transactions connecting her to the case.
Exam Postponement Affects Candidates
The Maharashtra TET 2026 exam was postponed one day before its scheduled date due to suspected paper leaks. Officials stated the postponement was necessary to ensure exam transparency.
Over 600,000 candidates are affected by the postponement. Police suspect a large national network is involved, with potential links to other exam scams.
