The MAH BHMCT CET 2026 exam has finished across Maharashtra. The State Common Entrance Test Cell conducted the exam in several shifts for many students. Now, students are waiting for the results, which will be ready soon.

Fairness in Scoring: The Normalisation Process

To make sure the results are fair for everyone, a special method called 'normalisation' will be used. This is because different sets of questions might have been slightly easier or harder on different days or in different shifts.

The normalisation process helps to adjust the scores so that no student is at a disadvantage just because they got a harder paper. It ensures all students are compared on an equal footing.

What is Normalisation?

Normalisation is a common method used in many big entrance exams. It looks at how students performed in each shift and makes scores equal. Here’s how it helps:

  • It compares how students did in different exam sessions.
  • It changes scores based on how difficult the questions were for each group.
  • This makes sure everyone gets a fair ranking.

Understanding Percentile Scores

Your result will not be based on the exact marks you got. Instead, you will get a 'percentile score'.

A percentile score tells you how many students scored less than or equal to you. It is shown on a scale from 0 to 100.

  • If you get a 90 percentile, it means you performed better than 90% of the students who took the exam.
  • The student with the highest score in each shift gets a 100 percentile.
  • These scores are calculated very precisely, up to seven decimal places, to avoid ties and make them more accurate.

How Your Result Will Be Calculated

The CET Cell will prepare the results in these steps:

  1. Students will be grouped based on the shift they took the exam in.
  2. Their raw scores (actual marks) will be calculated for each shift.
  3. Percentile scores will be calculated separately for each shift.
  4. Finally, the percentile scores from all shifts will be combined.
  5. A final merit list will be made based on these combined percentile scores.

This process ensures a fair evaluation for all candidates who appeared for the MAH BHMCT CET 2026 exam.
