MAH BEd CET 2026: Eligibility, Dates, How to Apply

The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra, has announced the rules for who can apply for the MAH BEd CET 2026 exam. This exam is for students who want to join the two-year Bachelor of Education (BEd) course in colleges across Maharashtra. These colleges include government, aided, unaided, and minority institutions.

To apply for MAH BEd CET 2026 , candidates must meet specific requirements related to their nationality, education, subject specialisation, and candidature status. The application period for the exam began on January 8, 2026 , and will close on January 23, 2026 . Students must check these rules carefully before filling out the application form.

Who Can Apply? Nationality and Domicile Rules

All applicants must be Indian citizens to be eligible for the MAH BEd CET 2026 . However, there are special rules for candidates who are not Indian citizens but wish to study in Maharashtra.

  • Candidates who are NRI (Non-Resident Indian), OCI (Overseas Citizen of India), PIO (Person of Indian Origin), and Foreign Nationals do not need to take the CET exam. They can apply for admission directly through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP).

Maharashtra State Candidates

Candidates from Maharashtra State must meet certain domicile conditions. They are divided into different categories:

Type Eligibility Condition
Type ABorn in Maharashtra or have a domicile certificate from Maharashtra.
Type BEither parent (father or mother) has a domicile certificate from Maharashtra.
Type CEither parent is an employee of the Government of India and is posted in Maharashtra.
Type DEither parent is an employee or has retired from the Government of Maharashtra.
Type EMarathi-speaking candidates from the Maharashtra–Karnataka border area.

Outside Maharashtra State (All India) Candidates

Candidates who are not from Maharashtra State are called OMS (Outside Maharashtra State) or All India candidates. They must meet these conditions:

  • They must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree that is at least 3 years long .
  • Their degree must be recognised by UGC (University Grants Commission) or AIU (Association of Indian Universities).
  • They must have scored a minimum of 55% marks in their degree, regardless of their category.
  • OMS candidates must apply only under the Open Category .

Educational Qualifications

The academic requirements for MAH BEd CET 2026 depend on the degree stream and the category of the candidate. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a recognised university.

Required Subject Streams

Candidates must have studied at least one special or optional subject from the approved list during their undergraduate or postgraduate studies. These subjects include:

  • Science and Mathematics
  • Social Sciences
  • Humanities (Languages)
  • Commerce
  • Engineering & Technology
  • Management, Computer Science, IT, Law, Agriculture
  • Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Medical Sciences, Banking & Insurance

Final Year Students

Students who are in their final year of graduation or post-graduation and are waiting for their results can also apply for MAH BEd CET 2026 . However, their admission is provisional. They must submit their final mark sheets and degree certificates at the time of admission to confirm their eligibility.

Other Important Points

English Language Content Test (ELCT)

Candidates who want to join English Medium BEd colleges must take the English Language Content Test (ELCT) along with the MAH BEd CET . It is important to select the ELCT option during the online application process. Once the application is submitted, requests to change this option will not be allowed.

Age Limit

There is no upper age limit set for applying to the MAH BEd CET 2026 exam.

Reservation and Certificate Rules

Candidates applying under reserved categories in Maharashtra must provide valid documents to prove their claim. These include:

  • A valid Caste Certificate .
  • A Caste Validity Certificate .
  • A Non-Creamy Layer Certificate , if applicable.
  • An EWS (Economically Weaker Section) Certificate , if applicable for the EWS category.

If candidates do not have these valid documents, they should apply under the Open Category .

Remember, the last date to register for MAH BEd CET 2026 is January 23, 2026 . Make sure you meet all the requirements before applying.
