Students at Jai Prakash Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Lucknow protested a teacher shortage Friday morning. The demonstration blocked Buddheswar Mohan Road in the Para area. Students reported that missing teachers are negatively impacting their studies.
Around 9 AM, students left the school carrying posters and banners. They gathered on the road. The Para police arrived and spoke with the students. Police stated students expressed dissatisfaction with other school issues, not just teacher shortages.
Police convinced students to end the protest and return to school. The road reopened shortly after.
Minister Addresses Concerns
Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun met with students and education officials. He delayed his official travel to attend the discussion. The meeting lasted approximately two hours. Arun acknowledged students protest teacher shortages to improve their education.
The minister explained that some teacher positions remain unfilled due to ongoing court cases. This directly affects schools managed by the Social Welfare Department. The next court hearing is scheduled for August 17 .
Minister Arun assured students their concerns would be presented in high court. He also promised to address demands for improved coaching under the Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Yojana.
Teacher shortages have led to similar student protests in other districts. Fatehpur, Hamirpur, and Kannauj have seen demonstrations over educational and infrastructure problems. These events highlight a growing pattern of student activism regarding school conditions.
