The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has released an important update about the SC (Scheduled Caste) category rules for the KSET 2025 exam . This exam helps candidates become eligible for Assistant Professor jobs in Karnataka. KEA's notice clarifies how SC categories will be checked, especially after some issues arose with the recently released provisional merit list. KEA has made it very clear that candidates must show the correct documents for final eligibility.

The Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET) 2025 was held on November 2, 2025 . After the exam, KEA first released a provisional answer key. Candidates could submit objections to this key. A special committee of subject experts reviewed all objections. Following this, the final answer keys and the provisional KSET marks list were published on November 15, 2025 . Based on these marks, KEA then released the subject-wise provisional KSET 2025 merit list on November 21, 2025 . This list showed candidates' SC sub-categories (like SC-A, SC-B, or SC-C ) as they had selected them when downloading their admit cards.

Concerns Over Wrong Category Selection

After the provisional merit list was released, KEA received many requests for corrections. Several candidates stated that they had accidentally chosen the wrong SC sub-category during the application process. Additionally, some organizations raised concerns that a few candidates might have intentionally selected incorrect categories. This was done possibly to claim reservation benefits they were not truly eligible for. In response to these complaints and requests, KEA issued an official clarification for all candidates listed in the KSET provisional merit list.

Provisional List is Not a Guarantee of Eligibility

KEA has strongly stated that the provisional KSET merit list is prepared only from the information candidates themselves entered online. Appearing on this list does not automatically guarantee that a candidate will receive the final KSET 2025 eligibility certificate . The authority stressed that this provisional list is just a step in the process, and final eligibility depends on further verification.

Mandatory Document Verification Process

All candidates must go through a mandatory document verification process to prove their eligibility. During this verification, candidates need to present their original certificates and documents. These include:

  • Original educational documents, such as degree certificates.
  • Post-graduate degree certificates.
  • All relevant reservation certificates.

The KSET 2025 eligibility certificate will only be issued after these original documents have been thoroughly checked and found to be correct and valid.

Specific Certificate for SC-A, SC-B, SC-C Candidates

Candidates who have applied under the SC-A, SC-B, or SC-C reservation categories have a specific requirement. They must present a valid caste certificate. This certificate needs to be issued by a Tahsildar and must clearly show a unique RD number . This RD number is a crucial identifier that confirms the authenticity and validity of the caste certificate. Without this specific certificate, their claim for reservation cannot be confirmed.

Consequences of Incorrect Documents

KEA has outlined clear consequences for candidates who fail to provide the correct and valid caste certificate, especially those with the required RD number:

  • Their KSET 2025 eligibility certificate will be rejected. This means they will not be considered eligible for Assistant Professor posts through this exam.
  • The vacant position will then be offered to the next eligible candidate in that specific reservation category, strictly following the official rules and guidelines.

The Authority has urged all candidates to double-check their category details and ensure that all their supporting documents are accurate and match the information provided in their online applications. Any discrepancy or mismatch found during the document verification process may lead to direct disqualification. It is essential for candidates to have all the necessary and correct certificates ready to avoid any rejection of their eligibility.
