The Kerala government has cancelled the SSLC (Class 10) and Plus Two (Class 12) board exams for students in the Gulf region. This decision was announced on Thursday by the General Education Minister, V Sivankutty. The cancellation is due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Hundreds of students will now be evaluated based on their internal marks. The government aims to ensure that these students do not face disadvantages due to the situation.
Exam Results Based on Internal Marks
For the 633 SSLC students affected, their results will be calculated using marks from their model exams or term exams. The government will also include grace marks if needed.
For the 592 Plus Two students , their marks from the first year of higher secondary will be carried forward. These marks will be combined with their scores from continuous evaluation and practical exams in the second year to determine their final results.
Special Arrangements for Stranded Students
Students from Kerala who were in the Gulf for various reasons and got stuck because of the conflict will also benefit from this decision. These students need to get their original hall tickets, visas, and passports checked by their school authorities to be eligible for this evaluation method.
Improvement Exams and Grievance Redressal
Students who are not happy with their results based on internal marks will have a chance to take improvement exams later. The state government is also working to improve the system for handling complaints about internal assessments in schools. Schools have been asked to display the assessment scores on notice boards to make sure everything is clear and transparent. School-level committees will look into any complaints received.
