Kerala has cancelled the SSLC (Class 10) and Plus Two (Class 12) board examinations for students in Gulf countries scheduled for 2026. The decision was announced by Kerala General Education Minister V. Sivankutty. The cancellations are due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, which has created an unstable geopolitical situation. This instability disrupted academic activities and prevented students from attending the scheduled exams.
Evaluation Methods for Affected Students
Students affected by the cancellation will be evaluated using alternative methods. For Class 10 (SSLC) students, marks will be based on their performance in model exams and term exams. A portion of grace marks will also be added to their scores. Approximately 633 SSLC students are impacted by this decision.
Class 12 (Plus Two) students will have their marks calculated differently. Their first-year (Plus One) marks will be carried forward. Additionally, continuous evaluation marks and practical marks from their second year will be included. This evaluation method applies to nearly 592 Plus Two students.
Provisions for Students Abroad
Students who travelled from Kerala to Gulf countries and could not return for their exams will receive the same evaluation benefits. Schools are required to verify hall tickets, visas, and passports for these students. Principals must certify that the exams were missed during their stay abroad.
Exam Result Dates and Reforms
The SSLC Result 2026 is expected in the third week of May . The Plus Two Result 2026 is anticipated by May 25, 2026 .
The Kerala government also introduced reforms to enhance transparency and student support. The grievance redressal system for continuous assessment will be strengthened. Schools will publicly display assessment scores. A study support program for students in Classes 5 to 9 scoring below 30% will run from April 20 to April 27, 2026.
