The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will implement a new 'best of two' marks policy for KCET 2026 rank calculations. This change impacts how class 12 board marks are factored into the final entrance test rank.
KCET 2026 Rank Calculation Changes
Previously, KEA used a 50:50 weightage. This split gave 50% to KCET scores and 50% to class 12 Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) marks. The new rule changes how the board marks component is assessed.
Students who have taken the 2nd PUC (class 12) exams more than once will have their best performance count. This includes marks from improvement or supplementary exams. The KEA will consider the highest marks achieved in PCM across these attempts.
This adjustment aims to reduce student stress. It ensures that improved board exam scores directly contribute to a higher KCET rank.
New Weightage Details
The KEA has outlined the updated weightage for KCET 2026 ranks. The entrance exam score will retain 50% of the total weightage. The class 12 board marks component will also account for 50%.
Board marks will be standardized to a scale of 100. This applies to the PCM subjects from the 2nd PUC or class 12 examinations.
