The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) for Physics and Chemistry began today, April 23, 2026. Over 3 lakh students are expected to take the exam across Karnataka. The exam is being held at 745 centres throughout the state.
Exam Details
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is conducting the KCET exam. The Physics paper started at 10:30 AM and will end at 11:50 AM. The Chemistry paper is scheduled for the afternoon, from 2:30 PM to 3:50 PM.
More than 3.3 lakh students are taking the KCET over two days, April 23 and 24. Candidates must arrive at the exam centre 45 to 60 minutes before the exam starts. This is for security checks and to find their seats.
Students should be seated by the first bell, which rings at 10:20 AM for the morning session and 2:20 PM for the afternoon session. Entry to the exam hall will not be allowed after the third bell, which marks the start of the exam.
| Subject | Session | Time | Late Entry Deadline |
| Physics | Morning | 10:30 AM - 11:50 AM | 10:40 AM |
| Chemistry | Afternoon | 02:30 PM - 03:50 PM | 02:40 PM |
What to Bring
Students must carry their KCET 2026 admit card. They also need one valid photo identity proof, such as an Aadhaar card, Voter ID, or Driving License. It is also a good idea to carry one passport-size photograph similar to the one used in the application form for verification.
Electronic items like mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, and Bluetooth devices are strictly not allowed inside the exam centre. Candidates are advised not to bring these items.
Exam Day Guidelines
The KCET exam has two main papers: Physics and Chemistry. Each paper has 60 marks and lasts for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Dress Code:
Students should wear simple, light-coloured clothes. Half-sleeve shirts or T-shirts (without large prints) and simple trousers or salwar-kameez are recommended. Slippers or thin-soled sandals are allowed. Avoid heavy shoes or boots.
Jewellery like rings and earrings are not permitted. Belts, caps, and sunglasses are also not allowed. Clothes with metal buttons, zippers, or heavy embroidery should be avoided as they might trigger metal detectors.
Candidates wearing religious attire must report at least two hours early for extra security screening. They should reach by 8:30 AM for the morning session or 12:30 PM for the afternoon session.
