The fourth **Kashi Tamil Sangamam** is scheduled to take place from **December 2 to December 10, 2025**. This important cultural event aims to make stronger the old links of culture and language between **Tamil Nadu** in the south and **Kashi (Varanasi)** in the north. **IIT Madras** and **Banaras Hindu University (BHU) Varanasi** will be the hosts for this nine-day gathering.

More than **1,400 participants** from various parts of India are expected to join the Sangamam. These participants will come from different fields like education, arts, culture, and social work. The main goal of the event is to help people understand and value each other's rich heritage better.

How to Register and Important Dates

Everyone interested in attending the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 must register online. The last date to register is **November 21, 2025, by 8 PM**. It is important for all interested people to complete their registration before this deadline.

The Education Ministry has set up two different websites for registration, for different groups of participants:

  • For Regular Participants: The website **kashitamil.iitm.ac.in** is for anyone who wants to attend the event as a regular visitor. This includes scholars, artists, people who love culture, and the general public who wish to experience the cultural exchange.
  • For Student Learning Program: The website **kashitamil.bhu.edu.in** is especially for students. This website will be used to choose students for a special learning program.

Special Tamil Learning Program for Students

A main part of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 is a special program made for students. A total of **300 students** will be chosen for this special chance. These selected students will join a **15-day program** to learn the Tamil language. This rich experience will happen in **Tamil Nadu**, giving students a direct way to learn the language and its culture.

To be selected for this student learning program, applicants must take a selection quiz. This quiz will be held on **November 23, 2025, from 10 AM to 5 PM**. Students who are interested in learning Tamil and exploring Tamil Nadu's culture should get ready for this quiz.

Theme and Main Activities of Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0

The central idea for Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2025 is **"Learn Tamil - Tamil Karkalam."** This theme shows the importance of spreading Tamil language learning across India. It aims to make Tamil easy to learn and interesting for people from areas where Tamil is not spoken.

To achieve its goals, the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 has planned several main activities:

  • Sage Agasthya Vehicle Expedition: A special trip by vehicle will start from **Tenkasi** in Tamil Nadu and go all the way to **Kashi**. This journey is named after **Sage Agasthya**, a wise figure from ancient stories who is believed to have connected South Indian traditions with the North. The trip will show the deep connections between the two regions, with cultural stops along the way.
  • Teaching Tamil in Varanasi Schools: One direct outcome of the Sangamam will be efforts to start teaching the Tamil language in schools in **Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh**. This will help students in North India learn basic Tamil, promoting different languages and understanding.
  • Tamil Learning Study Tours for UP Students: Students from Uttar Pradesh will get the chance to go on organized study trips to Tamil Nadu. These tours will provide an environment where students can learn the Tamil language and experience the local culture, traditions, and daily life of Tamil Nadu directly.

Why Cultural Exchange is Important

The Kashi Tamil Sangamam plays a vital role in bringing different parts of India closer. Kashi, an ancient holy city, and Tamil Nadu, with its rich history, share many old cultural and spiritual ties. By holding such events, the government aims to close cultural gaps and help in uniting the nation.

These gatherings allow people to share their art, literature, traditions, and ideas. They help keep alive and celebrate India's many different cultures. For students, it is an important opportunity to learn new things and see different perspectives, and to build friendships across states.

All interested participants, especially students, should register early for this event. Do not miss the **November 21, 2025** deadline for registration. This Sangamam promises to be a memorable experience, strengthening the bond between Tamil Nadu and Kashi.
