Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has launched a new Master of Arts (MA) in Media Studies program. The program is offered by the Centre for Media Studies within the School of Social Sciences.
This interdisciplinary course combines media theory with practical application. It focuses on media's connection to politics, society, digital communication, culture, and research.
Admissions for the MA in Media Studies will follow the CUET PG admission 2026 process. The program aligns with the National Education Policy 2020. It aims to help students analyze contemporary media. This includes understanding how technology reshapes the industry and daily life.
Program Structure and Options
JNU offers two variations of the MA in Media Studies:
- A two-year MA in Media Studies.
- A one-year MA in Media Studies.
The Centre for Media Studies encourages multi-disciplinary study. Students can enroll in courses offered by other JNU centers. This depends on their aptitude and research interests.
Course Focus
The program emphasizes developing creativity and critical thinking skills. Students will engage with media theories and practical media work. The curriculum includes interaction with media professionals and academics worldwide. This provides exposure to current media issues.
The goal is to equip students with knowledge for in-depth media research. It also provides skills for careers in the media industry.
