The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has deferred the Class 10 and Class 11 bi-annual private examinations scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, following relentless rainfall that has triggered flood-like conditions across several districts of the Union Territory.
The official notification issued by JKBOSE confirmed that both the Secondary School Examination (Class 10) and Higher Secondary Part I (Class 11) under the Annual (Private)/Bi-Annual 2025 session for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh will not be held as planned. Fresh exam dates will be declared shortly once conditions improve.
The weather-induced disruption has coincided with a broader government order suspending the functioning of all educational institutions and non-essential government offices across the UT. Only emergency and law-and-order-related departments have been exempted from the closure. This marks the third consecutive day of school shutdowns in the Jammu division.
According to the Meteorological Department, the region is expected to receive very heavy rainfall for the next 40 hours, raising concerns of further escalation of the crisis. Major rivers, including the Basantar, Tawi, and Chenab, have already swelled to alarming levels, with water flow reaching the official danger mark.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and residents have been advised to stay cautious as continuous downpours and rising water levels threaten to disrupt normal life further.
