The National Testing Agency (NTA) is opening applications for the second session of the JEE Main 2026 exam soon. This exam is for students who want to get into engineering colleges in India. What's New in the Application Process?
This year, the NTA has introduced a couple of new steps to make the application process more secure:
Aadhaar e-KYC
Your basic details like name, date of birth, photo, and gender will be checked using your Aadhaar card. Make sure all the details on your Aadhaar card are correct and up-to-date. If there's any mistake, you will be told to fix it.
Live Photo Capture
When you fill out the application form on a computer or laptop, a live photo of you will be taken using the webcam. If your device doesn't have a webcam, you can use a QR code to take the photo with your phone and upload it. You will also need to upload a scanned copy of your photograph.
Documents Needed for Application
Before you start filling the form, keep these documents ready:
- A working mobile number and email ID.
- Class 10 marksheet or certificate.
- Aadhaar card.
- Scanned passport-size photo and signature (as per NTA guidelines).
- Category certificate (if applicable, like OBC-NCL or EWS).
- Disability certificate (if applicable, PwD/PwBD).
- Details for online payment (net banking, credit/debit card, or UPI).
How to Apply for JEE Main 2026 Session 2
You can only apply online. Follow these steps once the registration link is active:
- Go to the official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in .
- Find and click on the registration link for Session 2.
- Fill in your details and create a password.
- Submit the registration. You will get an application number on your phone.
- Log in again with your application number and password.
- Fill in the rest of the form, including personal details, education, choice of exam cities, and upload documents.
- Pay the application fee online.
- Submit the form. You can check your application status later.
Important Information
Students need to score at least 75% in their Class 12 exams to be eligible for admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. For SC/ST students, the requirement is 65%.
You can attempt the JEE Main exam for three consecutive years from the year you passed Class 12. This means you can take the exam up to six times.
If you make any mistakes while filling the form, NTA will open a correction window. This will likely be in the last week of February 2026, where you can correct your details.
