JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Starts Jan 21: Check Rules & Admit Card

The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 examination starts tomorrow, January 21. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will hold these exams from January 21 to January 29, 2026. Students appearing for the exam must follow all rules. They need to carry their admit card and a valid photo ID to their exam centre. The NTA has also shared important guidelines for exam day, including dress code and items allowed inside the hall.

All candidates must check their JEE Main admit card 2026 carefully. The admit card shows the exact exam date, shift timing, reporting time, and the address of the exam centre. Students must arrive at the centre on time. Late entry is not allowed under any circumstances. Candidates will not get permission to enter the exam hall after the last reporting time.

What to Carry to the JEE Main Exam Centre 2026

Students must bring only the following items to the exam centre:

  • A clear printout of the JEE Main 2026 Admit Card. This must be downloaded from the official website.
  • A valid photo identity proof in its original form. Accepted IDs include Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, Driving Licence, or a School/College ID. Photocopies or scanned copies are not allowed.
  • One passport-size photograph.
  • If applicable, an original PwD Certificate. This certificate must be issued by a proper authority for candidates claiming PwD benefits.

No other personal items, electronic devices, papers, or study materials are permitted inside the exam hall. Leaving these items at the centre is not the responsibility of the NTA or exam authorities.

JEE Main 2026 Dress Code Rules

The NTA has not set a strict dress code. However, some guidelines help with the security check (frisking). Students should wear simple clothes to avoid any issues.

  • Wear light clothes.
  • Choose simple trousers or pants.
  • Wear slippers or sandals with low heels.

Items Not Allowed at the JEE Main Exam Centre 2026

Certain items are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall. Students must make sure they do not carry any of these:

  • Footwear: Shoes, boots, or any footwear with thick soles.
  • Clothing: Full-sleeve shirts, jackets, hoodies, or coats. Also, clothing with large buttons, badges, brooches, or metallic decorations.
  • Headgear: Caps, scarves, stoles, or other headgear. Exceptions are made only for religious reasons, after proper checking.
  • Accessories: Watches, bracelets, rings, chains, or any other metallic accessories.

Prohibited Personal and Electronic Items

The following items are completely banned from the exam centre:

  • Electronic Devices: Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, any other electronic gadgets.
  • Calculators: Any type of calculator.
  • Personal Belongings: Wallets, handbags, books, notes, loose papers, or any other study material.

Students should plan ahead and leave all prohibited items outside the exam centre. Following these rules ensures a smooth and fair examination process for everyone.
