The National Testing Agency (NTA) has sent an urgent reminder to certain candidates for the JEE Main 2026 exam. These candidates must upload a special Photo Verification Certificate by the end of today, January 15. This certificate is a very important document. Students must bring a printed copy of it to their JEE Main exam centre for checking.
NTA has sent emails about this certificate to candidates who did not use their Aadhaar Card as identity proof when applying. Also, some candidates received the email because the photo they uploaded during the application did not match the photo on their Aadhaar records (UIDAI records).
Who Needs to Upload This Certificate?
Not all students need to upload this certificate. Only those who received a special email from NTA must complete this step. The NTA sent these emails to two main groups of students:
- Students who used an identity proof other than their Aadhaar Card when they registered for JEE Main 2026.
- Students whose live photo (taken during the application) was different from the photo linked to their Aadhaar Card data.
If you received an email from NTA about the Photo Verification Certificate, you must act quickly. The deadline is January 15.
Why is This Certificate Important?
This Photo Verification Certificate is a critical document for your JEE Main 2026 exam. It helps confirm your identity at the exam centre. Without this certificate, you might face problems on the exam day. You must print this certificate and carry it with you to the test centre. It is part of the important checks done before you can enter the examination hall.
How to Get and Upload Your Certificate
The process to download, fill, and upload the Photo Verification Certificate is simple. You need to visit the official JEE Main website.
Steps to Follow:
- Go to the official website: jeemain.nta.nic.in.

- Once logged in, you will find the option to download the Photo Verification Certificate.
- Download and print the certificate.
- Fill in all the required details on the printed certificate carefully.
- Get the certificate attested (signed and stamped) by an authorised officer. This step is mandatory.

Who Can Attest Your Certificate?
The certificate must be signed and stamped by a recognised officer. Here is who can attest your Photo Verification Certificate:
| Officer Type | Examples |
| School/College Head | Principal or Headmaster of your current school/college |
| Class-I Government Officer | Tehsildar, Revenue Officer, SDM, DM |

Your JEE Main 2026 admit card will be released soon. The admit card will have all the details about your exam, including the exact centre name, address, and your exam shift. You must download and print your admit card when it becomes available.
