JEE Main 2026 Jan 28 Shift 1: Maths Difficult, Physics/Chem Moderate

The JEE Main 2026 January 28 Shift 1 exam for B.E./B.Tech has finished. Many students found the Mathematics section difficult . The Physics and Chemistry sections were seen as moderately challenging .

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the exam on January 28. The morning shift ended at 12 PM. Based on feedback from students and experts, the overall difficulty level of the exam was considered moderate.

Students mentioned that while some questions tested their understanding of concepts, others required quick calculations. Managing time was important throughout the exam.

Subject-Wise Analysis

Detailed analysis from coaching centres and students is still being gathered. However, early reports suggest the following:

Physics

The Physics section was of moderate difficulty. Questions came from topics like Mechanics, Electromagnetism, and Modern Physics. Some questions needed a good understanding of formulas and their application.

Chemistry

The Chemistry section was also rated as moderate. Questions covered Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry topics.

Mathematics

The Mathematics section was the most challenging. It was time-consuming and required a deep understanding of concepts. Topics included Calculus, Algebra, Coordinate Geometry, and Trigonometry.

JEE Main 2026 January Session So Far

From January 21 to January 24, the JEE Main 2026 exams were generally considered moderate to tough. It was rare to find very easy questions. Physics and Mathematics were often reported as tougher sections with lengthy calculations. Chemistry was usually more balanced but still required careful thinking.

The second shift of the JEE Main 2026 January 28 exam will start at 3 PM. After this shift, the first session of the JEE Main 2026 exam will be completed.
