Common Mistakes to Avoid After Downloading Admit Card

Many students make mistakes after downloading their JEE Main admit card. These mistakes can cause stress or even stop them from taking the exam.

1. Not Checking Details Carefully

Students often assume that all details on their admit card are correct. This is a common mistake. Any small error, like a spelling mistake in your name or a blurred photograph, can create issues during identity check at the exam centre. If the information on your admit card does not match your ID proof, you might not be allowed inside the exam hall.

2. Ignoring Errors and Not Reporting Them

Some students notice mistakes but do not report them. This is a serious problem. If you find any error on your JEE Main 2026 admit card, you must act fast:

  • Contact NTA immediately. Use the helpline number and email ID given on the JEE Main website.
  • Keep your application number and other proof documents ready.
  • Follow all instructions given by NTA to correct the errors.

Do not wait until the exam day to report mistakes. Exam centre staff cannot make corrections.

3. Printing the Admit Card Wrongly

Printing the admit card incorrectly is another common mistake. Follow these steps for a correct printout:

  • Print the admit card on A4 size paper .
  • Use a laser printer if possible.
  • Make sure your photograph and signature are clear .
  • The barcode and QR code must be visible.
  • All text must be readable .
  • Avoid black or smudged prints.
  • Do not print multiple pages incorrectly.

4. Not Reading Exam Day Rules

The admit card contains important exam day rules. These include reporting time, items allowed and not allowed, and dress code. Many students skip reading this section. Ignoring these rules can lead to delays in entry or, in serious cases, being stopped from taking the exam.

5. Not Visiting the Exam Centre Early

Not visiting the exam centre before the exam day is a mistake. Visiting the centre in advance helps you:

  • Know how much time it takes to travel.
  • Find the exact location easily.
  • Avoid confusion, especially if there are similar centre names.
