IIT Roorkee has officially dismissed claims of discrepancies and malpractice in the JEE Advanced 2026 examination. The organizing institute confirmed on [Date of Press Release, e.g., October 26, 2023] that circulated social media lists showing significant mark variations between Paper 1 and Paper 2 were fabricated.
No Evidence of Malpractice Found
IIT Roorkee stated that an audit of all examination data found no evidence of cheating or result manipulation. The institute clarified that lists circulating online did not reflect actual candidate scores. These claims emerged after social media posts highlighted apparent large differences in marks between the two exam papers.
When questioned about score variations, IIT Roorkee reported that significant differences were observed in only two candidates out of the top 10,000 rankers. This type of variation is a common annual occurrence, according to the institute.
Cloud Storage Flaw Addressed
The clarification follows a separate technical incident. An independent ethical hacker reported a flaw in the cloud storage configuration of the results portal. IIT Roorkee and the Ministry of Education quickly addressed this issue. The flaw was described as 'read-only'. This means no scores, rankings, or data were manipulated or extracted on a large scale.
A total of 56,880 candidates qualified from the 1.79 lakh aspirants who appeared for the exam. The focus now shifts to the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process.
