Jamia Millia Islamia has revised its examination rules. Final-year students can now take compartment exams for backlog papers. This change allows them to finish degrees sooner. The university’s Executive Council approved the new rules. They amended Ordinance-15 to make these changes.
Compartment Exam Eligibility
Students in their final semester or year can benefit. This applies to those under the annual examination system. They must have backlog papers from earlier semesters or years. These students can now sit for a compartment exam. It will be held after their final semester or annual examinations.
The university will announce the compartment exam schedule separately. This information will come from the Office of the Controller of Examinations. The new rule applies only to students in regular courses. Those studying through distance education are not eligible.
Rule Amendment Details
The change amends Clause 24.4 of Ordinance-15. It states that compartment exams are not standard for carry-over systems. However, a final semester or year student with backlog papers is eligible. They can take the compartment exam after their final exams.
Re-evaluation Rule Changes
The Executive Council also approved changes to re-evaluation rules. Clause 23.1 of Ordinance-15 is now revised. Final-year students can choose a compartment exam directly. This is an alternative to applying for re-evaluation of their answer scripts.
Students in other semesters or years follow the existing procedure. They have 15 days to apply for re-evaluation after results are declared. This process remains unchanged for them.
