Indraprastha College for Women (IPCW), University of Delhi, has launched a certificate course on menstrual health and hygiene. The program, titled 'Empower Flow: A Certificate Course for Menstrual Health and Hygiene, Spotlight Red,' began recently.
The course is a collaboration between IPCW and the UNESCO Regional Office for South Asia. Its goal is to change how menstrual health is understood and taught in academic settings.
New Course Launched
Principal Poonam Kumria led the initiative. The course aims to go beyond basic hygiene education. It incorporates gender studies and social advocacy principles. The inauguration ceremony included Chief Guest Nayana Sahasrabuddhe and UNESCO representatives Joyce Poan and Huma Masood.
Program Objectives
The 'Empower Flow' course aims to prepare students for community outreach programs. Participants will gain scientific knowledge. They will also develop social sensitivity. This structured academic platform targets dismantling stigmas around menstruation.
Speakers at the launch highlighted barriers to education. These include a lack of resources and information. IPCW plans to extend this initiative through outreach to other institutions and communities.
Delhi University Admissions 2026
This development occurs as Delhi University prepares for its 2026-27 admission cycle. The Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal is expected to open in late May. This follows the CUET UG examinations.
IPCW continues to promote social change through education. The 'Empower Flow' course bridges awareness gaps. It works to eliminate social stigma. The program also integrates menstrual health into the formal academic framework.
