What is the IMU CET?

The IMU CET is a national entrance exam held every year. It selects students for different courses in maritime studies. These courses include undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and diploma programs.

The exam is an online computer-based test (CBT) and lasts for 3 hours . All questions are multiple-choice and are in English. For every correct answer, 1 mark is given. For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted. This means there is negative marking.

Who Can Apply? Eligibility Details

To apply for the undergraduate (UG) courses, students must meet certain requirements:

  • Educational Qualification: You must have passed Class 12 with at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) combined. You also need to have scored a minimum of 50% marks in English in Class 10 or Class 12.
  • Age Limit: Your age must be between 17 and 25 years .
  • Medical Fitness: You need to be medically fit. This includes having good eyesight, as per the rules set by DG Shipping.

To complete the application, students must pay an application fee. The fee is INR 1,000 for General and Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates. For Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, the fee is INR 700 .

IMU CET 2026 offers admission to various programs across IMU's six main campuses and its affiliated colleges. The campuses are located in Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai Port, Navi Mumbai, and Visakhapatnam.
