Applications are open for the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) Summer Internship Programme 2026. Master's students can apply for research positions in climate and atmospheric sciences. The program runs for two to three months.
Internship Details
Interns will join active research teams. They will work with scientists on atmospheric and climate science projects. The program focuses on practical research experience. Students will learn data analysis, scientific validation, and problem-solving methods. This experience is beneficial for students pursuing environmental research careers or doctoral studies.
Eligibility Criteria
The IITM Summer Internship Programme 2026 is selective. Approximately 30 positions are available. Applicants must be pursuing a Master's degree (M.Sc., M.Tech, or equivalent). Relevant fields include Atmospheric Sciences, Meteorology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Environmental Sciences, and related Engineering disciplines. A strong academic record from Class 10 through the current Master's semester is required. Applicants must demonstrate interest in climate modeling, weather prediction, or monsoon studies. Students from recognized Indian or international universities are eligible.
Required Documents
Applicants must submit a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV). Consolidated marksheets are also required. A recommendation letter from the Head of Department is mandatory.
