Applications have opened for the highly competitive IIT Roorkee SPARK 2025 Summer Internship Program, providing institute-sponsored internships with a stipend of ₹2,500 per week, in addition to project-sponsored opportunities. The program will offer undergraduate and postgraduate students hands-on research experience under the guidance of IIT Roorkee faculty. The programme invites worthy students across the nation to pursue research and post graduation at IIT Roorkee. The submission deadline is 4th May 2025, 11:59 PM IST.
Primary Goal
The primary objective of SPARK 2025 is to instill a culture of research among students and shortlist candidates for upcoming postgraduate and doctoral programs at IIT Roorkee. Through exposure to the research work of the institute, selected interns will gain precious academic and professional experience.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates should be pursuing an UG/PG program currently and should have already completed two semesters.
Courses eligible for degree: B.Tech, B.E., B.Arch, M.Sc, or MA.
Minimum requirement of CGPA:
- CGPA> 7.5 for IITs/IISc students
- CGPA> 8.0 for NITs/IISERs/NISER/IIEST/UM - DAECBS students
- CGPA> 8.5 for students of all other institutions
Guidelines
- The application process is entirely online through the SPARK official portal. Applicants have to upload some items, like their current semester marksheet, a passport size photograph, a 500-word research statement explaining their academic interest and goals, and a 1–2 page resume explaining their background and qualifications.
- Students from other universities except IIT Roorkee must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) issued by their parent university, though this is requested at the time of joining the internship.
- Throughout the application process, students are asked to select their top five faculty choices from a list provided on the SPARK portal. This is a step that enables the selection committee to match students with faculty whose research interests best align with theirs, hence enhancing their learning experience.
- Interns selected under this program will be eligible to take advantage of a range of benefits. Interns sponsored by the Institute will be entitled to a stipend of ₹2,500/week, although the stipend policy for internships sponsored by projects may vary based on available funds for projects. Hostel accommodation (in Bhawans) and messing facilities will be reserved according to rules prevailing on campus.
- Temporary institute ID will be assigned to all the interns, which will qualify them to use some of the campus facilities like the central library, computer center, internet facility, medical facility, departmental lab facilities, sports facilities, and so on. The interns will be bound by the code of conduct of the institute. Provoking against any rule will result in the withdrawal of the internship immediately.
- Upon satisfactory completion of the internship, all participants will be awarded a certificate signed by IIT Roorkee and approved by the Dean of the Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC) bearing the intern's name as well as that of his/her faculty mentor.
