IIT Kanpur’s C3iHub has trained over 140 Indian Army personnel in cybersecurity. The second batch of 70 soldiers completed the program recently. A valedictory function was held at HQ Central Command in Lucknow.
Cyber Defense Program Details
The program aims to boost the Army's cyber defense. It provides soldiers with practical and advanced cybersecurity skills. This training supports national defense and security needs.
Training Structure
The cybersecurity certification is a six-month hybrid program. It uses a two-phase model. The first is a three-month Basic Module. The second is a three-month Advanced Module.
Each module includes 24 in-person sessions. These sessions last three hours each. Each module also has 12 online sessions. These online sessions are two hours long. Every module totals 96 contact hours.
The program builds foundational knowledge first. It then moves to specialized cyber defense skills. Learning combines academic study with practical application. This prepares participants for operational roles.
The Basic Module trains approximately 45 participants. The top 30 performers advance to the Advanced Module.
Curriculum Content
The Basic Module covers core cybersecurity areas. Topics include Linux systems and networking. Cyber threat intelligence is also taught. Operating system security, SOC operations, and incident response are included. Participants use industry-standard tools. These include Burp Suite, Wireshark, Nmap, Nessus, and Splunk. This hands-on approach simulates real-world scenarios.
The Advanced Module delves into complex topics. These include AI-driven security analytics. AI agents for security automation are covered. Rule-based log management and Power BI-based log analysis are taught. Data telemetry, malware analysis, and digital forensics are part of the curriculum. Network forensics and vulnerability assessment/penetration testing are also included.
Certification
Participants undergo practical and theoretical assessments. Successful candidates receive formal certification. C3iHub at IIT Kanpur issues these certifications. The program develops skilled cybersecurity professionals. These professionals will strengthen digital defense for national security.
