Indian Institute of Management Kashipur (IIM Kashipur) made history by hosting its 12th Convocation on April 2, 2025. In 2025, the institute graduated its biggest class ever, with 598 graduates. The figure is a testament to the steady growth of the institute and increased emphasis on diversity and inclusivity.
A Multicultural and Expanding Student Body
The 2025 batch had students from five programs:
- 319 full-time MBA students
- 161 MBA (Analytics) students
- 34 Executive MBA students
- 72 Executive MBA in Analytics students
- 12 PhD students
There is 36.5% batch size growth from last year. Out of all the students, 33% were females, and the MBA (Analytics) program consisted of 70% women participation, which tells us about the gender balance strategy of the institute.
Words of Wisdom by Chief Guest
Convocation ceremony was honored to have Shri Alok Agarwal, Senior Advisor, Reliance Industries, as Chief Guest. He urged students to think not only about individual success but about how they could make a difference for society. He remembered India's progress from telex machines to artificial intelligence and space and averred that “true success lies in the impact one makes.”
Recognizing Excellence
For student performance, a total of ten medals had been awarded, five gold medals, four silver medals, and a bronze medal. Also, 24 students had been placed on the Director's Merit List because of their outstanding study work.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Prof. Somnath Chakrabarti, Director (In-charge) and Dean Academics, defined that the educational model at IIM Kashipur is not education in business alone but genuine social problem-solving in real life. The institution uses a "Bharat meets B-School" concept and takes classroom learning into life through experiential learning.
As part of it, the students are registered under the Experiential Learning (EL) scheme, where the students work towards formulating projects for more than 90 Uttarakhand-based organizations with a focus on entrepreneurship, development, and sustainability. This allows the students to connect their academic course with reality at the ground level.
Global Collaborations and Recognition
At the international level, IIM Kashipur has signed collaboration MoUs with more than 450 international universities. Its most important strategic plans include STEP 2025, a collaborative program with ALBA (Greece) and Technical University of Munich (Germany). It also signed MoUs with institutions like COPPEAD, Brazil.
IIM Kashipur is also an affiliate member of AACSB, one of the world's most renowned accrediting agencies for business schools. It is also featured in India's highest national lists and innovation platforms.
All in all, the 12th convocation of IIM Kashipur was not only a celebratory ceremony to commemorate the success of its students, but also validated the mission of the institute towards socially responsible, inclusive, and globally relevant management education.
