Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the National Commission for Women (NCW) launched three new micro-credential courses on August 14, 2026 . These courses focus on women's issues, workplace safety, and gender awareness.
The partnership aims to build awareness and capacity regarding challenges women face. The programs offer practical knowledge applicable to personal and professional life.
New Micro-Credential Courses
The three courses address gender equality and women's participation. The first course, Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) , targets safer workplaces. The second focuses on women's leadership and professional skills . The third, Gender Sensitisation Society and Culture , examines gender issues from social and cultural viewpoints.
NCW Chairperson Vijaya K Rahatkar stated the courses must be practical. IGNOU Vice Chancellor Uma Kanjilal emphasized moving towards awareness and behavioral change.

These courses are the first offerings from this partnership. Future expansions may include domestic violence, legal literacy, cyber safety, mental health, and safe migration topics. IGNOU and NCW aim to keep these courses accessible to all interested learners.
