ICSI CSEET 2026: New Syllabus, Exam Pattern Announced

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has announced a new syllabus and exam pattern for the Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) 2026. This is an important update for all students who wish to become Company Secretaries. The new rules will start from the June 2026 exam session.

According to the ICSI, the CSEET exam will now be held three times a year : in February, June, and October. The first exam under this new pattern will take place from June 01 to June 04, 2026 . All students applying for CSEET from June 2026 onwards must follow this new syllabus and pattern.

New CSEET Exam Pattern 2026

The exam pattern has changed significantly. The CSEET exam will now be conducted over four days in offline mode. Here is a breakdown of the new pattern:

Here are the main topics covered under each subject in the new syllabus, applicable from the June 2026 exam:

Business Communication

  • Communication Basics
  • Business Correspondence (Letter writing, emails)
  • Common Business Terminologies (Words used in business)

Fundamentals of Accounting

  • Basic Concepts and Rules of Accounting
  • Accounting Process (How to record financial transactions)
  • Bank Reconciliation Statements
  • Depreciation and Amortization (Value reduction of assets)
  • How to prepare Final Accounts for small businesses (Sole Proprietorship)
  • Partnership and Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) Accounts
  • Introduction to Company Accounts
  • Accounting for Non-Profit Organizations

Economic and Business Environment

This subject has two parts:

  • Part A: Economics (50 Marks)
    • Basics of Demand and Supply, and different types of Market Competition
    • National Income Accounting (How a country’s income is measured)
    • Indian Union Budget
    • Indian Financial Markets (Stock market, banks)
    • Overview of the Indian Economy
  • Part B: Business Environment (50 Marks)
    • Entrepreneurship (Starting a business) in India
    • Understanding the Business Environment
    • Key Government Institutions
    • Global Environment (How international events affect business)
    • Environmental Governance (Rules for protecting the environment)
    • Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Business Environment
    • Elements of Corporate Governance (How companies are run fairly)

Business Law and Management

This subject also has two parts:

  • Part A: Business Laws (60 Marks)
    • Introduction to Law
    • Elements of Company Law (Rules for companies)
    • Elements of Law of Contracts (Rules for agreements)
    • Elements of Law relating to Partnership and Limited Liability Partnership (Rules for partnerships)
  • Part B: Business Management (40 Marks)
    • Introduction to Management
    • Functions of Management (Planning, organizing, leading, controlling)
    • Principles of Management and Modern Approaches
    • Management Knowledge important for Company Secretaries
