The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) will hold the ICSE Class 10 Chemistry exam on March 8, 2026 . This exam is part of the annual board examinations. Students preparing for this core science subject should focus on key topics that carry more marks. These important topics include the Study of Compounds, Periodic Table, Mole Concept and Stoichiometry, and Acids, Bases and Salts.

The ICSE Class 10 Chemistry examination is for a total of 100 marks . Out of these, 80 marks are for the written exam, and 20 marks are for practical work done in school. The written exam lasts for 2 hours . It covers a full syllabus, including different parts of chemistry such as Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry.

Detailed Syllabus for Key Topics

The ICSE 2026 Chemistry syllabus for these important topics covers specific areas:

  • Study of Compounds: This section includes how compounds are prepared in the lab, their special properties, chemical reactions, and industrial manufacturing processes. Examples of these processes are the Ostwald, Haber’s, and Contact processes. Students also need to know about practical experiments like the Fountain Experiment.
  • Periodic Table: For this topic, students will learn about groups, periods, valency (how many bonds an atom can form), electron shells, and how properties change across the table (periodic trends).
  • Study of Acids, Bases and Salts: This part focuses on how acids, bases, and salts are prepared. It also covers their chemical properties and important salt formulas.
  • Mole Concept and Stoichiometry: This topic includes understanding Relative Atomic Mass (RAM), Relative Molecular Mass (RMM), atomic mass, moles, empirical formulas, and percentage composition. Students must also be able to solve numerical problems related to these concepts.

Students taking the Chemistry exam should plan their study carefully. By focusing on these important topics, students can aim for high scores and do well in the exam.
