Selection Process Overview
The selection process to become an IAF officer has three main stages:
1. Written Test
Candidates first take the AFCAT written exam. This test covers General Awareness, English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning, and Military Aptitude. It helps identify candidates with basic knowledge and skills.
2. Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) Interview
Those who clear the written test proceed to the AFSB. This stage has two parts. Stage 1 involves an Intelligence Test and a Picture Perception and Discussion Test. Stage 2 includes psychological tests, group tasks, and a personal interview, assessing personality and leadership qualities.
3. Medical Examination

NCC Special Entry
NCC Air Wing Senior Division 'C' Certificate holders have a special entry option for the Flying Branch. 10% of seats are reserved from Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE) vacancies, and another 10% from AFCAT vacancies for this branch.
