The Haryana Board of School Education (HSBE) has denied claims of irregularities in the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) held on July 4 and 5, 2026 . HSBE stated the exam was conducted fairly and securely. The denial follows allegations from Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, who demanded the cancellation and re-holding of the Level 3 exam for postgraduate teacher posts.

Surjewala Alleges Exam Lapses

Surjewala claimed the July 4 HTET Level 3 exam , administered at 238 centers, was compromised. He cited alleged paper leaks, broken question paper seals, and mismatches between question papers and OMR sheets. Printing errors were also reported.

He specifically mentioned broken question paper packets found in Rewari and Charkhi Dadri. Surjewala also stated some candidates received OMR sheets with incorrect roll numbers. Additionally, English PGT candidates reportedly received economics papers initially before the error was corrected.

Further issues raised included missing questions, language errors, and incorrect numbering within the papers. Surjewala labeled the situation serious. He demanded a new examination and requested an FIR against involved officials.

HSBE Rejects Allegations

HSBE described the allegations as misleading. The board clarified that OMR sheets are evaluated using candidate roll numbers. Any mismatch in serial numbers between question papers and OMR sheets would not impact exam results, according to HSBE.

Regarding opened paper packets, HSBE explained that exam rooms contained 24 candidates. Packets were prepared in sets of 20, necessitating the opening of an extra packet as a standard procedure. HSBE stated this did not compromise exam secrecy and confirmed the process was video-recorded by district administration.

The board asserted that all standard protocols were followed. HSBE urged candidates and parents to rely on verified information and disregard unverified social media claims.
