The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) will award compensatory marks to students affected by answer sheet tampering in the Class 10 board exams. An investigation confirmed irregularities in the March 2025 matriculation exams where some multiple-choice question answers were altered.
Investigation Uncovers Answer Sheet Manipulation
The issue surfaced when nine students from Government High School, Jeora reported discrepancies. They claimed their marked options on multiple-choice questions had been changed. These students were called to the HPBOSE headquarters in Dharamshala.
Answer sheets were examined by experts. The sheets were then sent to the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) in Dharamshala. Forensic analysis confirmed the answer sheets had been tampered with.
HPBOSE Acts to Protect Student Merit
HPBOSE Chairman, Mr. Rajesh, stated that students are not at fault for the irregularity. He confirmed the board's priority is to safeguard students' academic futures. This includes preventing any negative impact on their final percentage scores.
The board will provide additional marks for the compromised questions. The investigation findings and forensic evidence have been submitted to the Education Department. This is to ensure accountability. It will also guide improvements to examination security for future exams.
