Himachal Pradesh Gets First Science College, AIIMS Ayurvedic Institute

Himachal Pradesh will establish its first Science College in Hamirpur. The state government also plans an AIIMS-level Ayurvedic institute and an Allied and Healthcare College in the district. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the projects during a function at Government College, Hamirpur. These new institutions aim to expand educational and healthcare infrastructure. Hamirpur is being developed as an education hub.

New Institutions Planned

The state's first dedicated Science College will be built in Hamirpur. The estimated cost is Rs 100 crore . The government has released Rs 20 crore for this project. Approximately 10 acres of land have been identified. An AIIMS-level Ayurvedic institute is also planned. This institute will cover 74 acres . An Allied and Healthcare College will be established in the district. These facilities will offer new training and education opportunities.

Hamirpur's Development

Chief Minister Sukhu called Hamirpur the "Education Capital" of Himachal Pradesh. The state government is increasing access to rural education. Over 156 CBSE schools have opened. This led to about 24,000 new student enrollments . The government released Rs 80 crore for these schools. Teacher shortages in higher education are being addressed. The government is considering college rationalization.

Healthcare Enhancements

The state is improving advanced healthcare services. Robotic surgery is now available. Patients pay approximately Rs 30,000 . The government subsidizes the remaining Rs 90,000 . Medical colleges are receiving 3-Tesla MRI machines. These machines will improve diagnostic capabilities.

Recent Inaugurations

During the Chief Minister's visit, several facilities opened. A new SRT Lab at the Deputy Director Agriculture Office cost Rs 8.64 crore . Hamirpur Degree College inaugurated a Computer-Based Testing (CBT) Lab for Rs 1.50 crore . The college also received a library with 70 tablets. A girls' hostel is planned for the college. This project has an estimated cost of Rs 9 crore . The government is focused on youth employment. Recruitment examinations are ongoing through state commissions.
