Nearly 24,000 students have transferred from private schools to 150 CBSE-affiliated government schools in Himachal Pradesh this year. This marks a significant increase in admissions to public education institutions. Officials attribute the shift to rising parental trust in the government's education reforms.

Himachal Government Boosts Public School Enrollment

The Himachal Pradesh government reports a surge in student enrollment in its state-run schools. This year, approximately 24,000 students have switched from private schools. These students are now attending 150 government schools that follow the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum. The government emphasizes its focus on enhancing teaching quality and modernizing school infrastructure.

The strategy aims to transform public schools over the coming years. Improvements include updating educational tools and refining teaching methods. These efforts are designed to build greater confidence among parents regarding the quality of education provided by government schools.

Medical Education Expansion Underway

In parallel with education reforms, the state government is expanding medical education and healthcare facilities. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the addition of 330 postgraduate medical seats across government medical institutions. This includes 100 new seats at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College in Tanda.

The expansion is intended to increase the number of specialist doctors. This will improve healthcare access for residents throughout Himachal Pradesh. The government is also upgrading medical equipment in its institutions. High-tech MRI scanners are being installed in all medical colleges.

Advanced Medical Technology Implemented

Himachal Pradesh is pioneering the use of advanced medical technology in government hospitals. The state is the first in India to implement robotic surgery in public healthcare facilities. Advanced tools are also being set up at Tanda medical college and other government hospitals.

Reasons for Student Shift to Government Schools

Several factors contribute to the growing number of students choosing government schools:

  • CBSE Curriculum: The adoption of the CBSE pattern in 150 schools is a key draw for parents.
  • Improved Teaching Quality: The government prioritizes enhancing instruction over simply increasing building capacity.
  • School Modernization: Schools are being equipped with better tools and resources for a contemporary learning environment.
  • Increased Parental Trust: These cumulative improvements are rebuilding parental confidence in the public education system.
