The Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) for engineering and pharmacy admissions in Gujarat will be held on March 29, 2026. Thousands of Class 12 Science students are expected to take this exam. The exam will be conducted offline using OMR sheets.

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) is organizing GUJCET 2026. This exam decides which students get into top government and private colleges for engineering and pharmacy courses across Gujarat. To help students prepare in the final hours, here's a look at important topics, exam patterns, and last-minute tips.

GUJCET 2026 Quick Facts

Exam DateMarch 29, 2026
Exam ModeOffline (OMR-based)
SessionsSession 1: 10 AM to 12 Noon
Session 2: 1 PM to 3 PM
SubjectsSession 1: Physics and Chemistry
Session 2: Mathematics and Biology
Question TypeMultiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

Exam Pattern Details

The GUJCET exam has 120 questions in total. Each of the three main subjects – Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology – has 40 questions.

  • Each correct answer is worth 1 mark.
  • There is a negative marking of -0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
  • The total time for Physics and Chemistry is 120 minutes.
  • The total time for Mathematics/Biology is 60 minutes.

This pattern gives equal importance to all subjects. It tests both how fast you can answer and how accurate you are.

In the last few days, it is best to revise what you already know instead of learning new things. Focus on important formulas, reactions, and main ideas. Try to answer questions you are sure about first to avoid losing marks. Keep a steady pace during the exam. Staying calm and having a clear plan can help you do your best.

Key Topics for Revision

Physics

Current Electricity: This chapter has many scoring questions based on formulas. Key topics include Ohm's Law and resistance in series and parallel circuits.

Optics: Important for both conceptual and numerical questions. Revise the mirror formula, lens formula, and magnification. Ray diagrams are also helpful.

Modern Physics: This is a reliable section for good marks. Focus on the photoelectric effect, Bohr's atomic model, and radioactive decay.

Semiconductors: Simple numerical questions are common here. Revise basic formulas for current, voltage, and resistance.

Electrostatics: Expect direct numerical questions based on Coulomb's law and electric field formulas.

Magnetic Effects of Current: Revise formulas related to magnetic force and current-carrying conductors.

Chemistry

Organic Chemistry: Look at functional groups, basic reaction steps, and important named reactions. Understanding reaction flow is key.

Chemical Bonding: Focus on types of bonds, VSEPR theory, hybridization, and molecular shapes. Conceptual clarity is more important than memorizing.

Electrochemistry: This chapter has scoring numerical questions. Revise formulas for cell potential and Nernst Equation.

Thermodynamics: Understand basic laws and their use. Focus on concepts like enthalpy and exothermic/endothermic reactions.

Solutions & Colligative Properties: Revise concentration terms like molarity and molality, and formulas for boiling point elevation and freezing point depression.

p-Block Elements: Focus on group properties, trends, oxidation states, and important compounds.

Mathematics

Calculus: This is a major part of the Maths paper. Practice basic differentiation and integration formulas. Questions are usually direct.

Determinants and Matrices: These are scoring and quick to solve. Practice determinant calculations and matrix properties.

Probability: Consider this an easy scoring chapter. Focus on basic formulas and simple problem-solving.

Integration: Revise standard integrals. Most questions are direct and formula-based.

Vectors: Focus on basic formulas and operations like finding the magnitude of a vector.

Biology

Human Physiology: This is a very scoring section. Revise the structure and function of the heart, blood circulation, kidney function, and basic nervous system concepts. Diagrams are important.

Genetics: Understand Mendel's laws, monohybrid/dihybrid crosses, and Punnett square analysis. Focus on ratios and simple problems.

Ecology: This unit is theory-based and factual. Revise ecosystem components, food chains, and energy flow.

Biotechnology: Focus on basic processes like DNA technology, genetic engineering, and PCR.

Plant Physiology: Revise photosynthesis, transpiration, and plant growth. Processes and diagrams are important.

Exam Day Instructions

  • Arrive at the exam center on time.
  • Carry your GUJCET 2026 admit card and a valid photo ID.
  • Do not carry any electronic devices or forbidden items.
  • Read all instructions on the OMR sheet carefully before answering.
  • Use a blue or black ballpoint pen to mark answers.

Focus on revising well-prepared topics and staying calm on exam day.
