Gujarat Class 10 & 12 Supplementary Exams Begin; Two Malpractice Cases Reported on Day One

Gujarat commenced the supplementary board exams for Classes 10 and 12 on Monday. However, the opening day was marred by two reported cases of cheating during the Class 12 physics paper—one in Ahmedabad and the other in Surendranagar.

In Ahmedabad, the incident occurred at Hebron School in the Maninagar locality, where a student was found using unauthorized material—a cheat sheet—during the exam. The examination board has since initiated action by filing a case of academic dishonesty against the student. A similar incident of malpractice was reported from Surendranagar district as well.

Despite these isolated incidents, officials noted that the exams were conducted successfully across most centres in the state. Students expressed relief, describing the Class 12 physics exam as manageable and not overly difficult.

Data released by the board showed that out of 26,007 students enrolled for the Class 12 physics supplementary exam, 20,515 candidates appeared. For the general stream statistics paper, 9,487 out of 12,268 registered students turned up to write the exam.

The Gujarat education authorities have enforced tight security and are maintaining close supervision across all centres to ensure a fair and disciplined exam environment.
