IIT Madras released an updated information brochure for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 on its official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in. The brochure, version 1.1, details changes to the application process and exam structure. The online application portal will open on August 14, 2026 .
Key Changes in GATE 2027 Brochure
While the core exam pattern, eligibility criteria, and fee structure remain unchanged, the brochure introduces a new subject paper: Robotics and Automation (RA) . This addition brings the total number of test papers to 30. The syllabus for Biotechnology (BT) has been modified. The Textile Engineering and Fibre Science paper is now named Engineering Sciences.
Digital authentication measures have been improved. These include biometric authentication and DigiLocker integration for smoother registration and center entry. Candidates must review the updated brochure before applying.
Application Schedule
The GOAPS application portal opens on August 14, 2026 . The regular registration closing date is September 21, 2026 . Applications with a late fee can be submitted until September 30, 2026 . The application correction window opens on October 21, 2026 .
GATE 2027 Exam Dates
The GATE 2027 examinations are scheduled for February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027 . The results will be announced on March 19, 2027 .
Revised Two-Paper Combinations
IIT Madras has also revised the list of valid two-paper combinations. The new Robotics and Automation (RA) paper can be combined with specific other papers. The Engineering (EC) and Instrumentation Engineering (IN) papers also have updated combination options.
