The Students' Association of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) has asked the institute to stop its FTII JET 2025 admission process. Students say the updated list of selected candidates, called the FTII JET Revised Final Merit List 2025 , has problems. They claim it is not clear and does not follow the institute's rules for reserving seats for different groups.

FTII is a well-known institute in Pune for film and television education. The FTII JET is the entrance exam for admission to various courses there. Students must pass two stages: a written test (Stage 1) and a practical assessment with interaction (Stage 2).

FTII first released a merit list on October 17, 2025 . After students raised concerns, the institute removed that list. On October 24, 2025 , FTII released a new, revised merit list, saying the first one had errors. However, students believe this new list still has serious mistakes and is unfair.

Key Problems Found by Students

Students have pointed out several issues with the FTII JET Revised Final Merit List 2025 . These problems mostly relate to how scores are shown and how reservation rules are followed.

Unclear Scores

Instead of showing marks for each stage of the exam separately, FTII released only the total marks (Stage 1 + Stage 2). This makes it difficult for students to understand how they scored in each part of the test. Students want to see their marks for Stage 1 and Stage 2 clearly listed.

Wrong Number of Seats in One Course

For the MFA in Screen Acting course, there are officially 16 seats available. But the revised merit list shows that 23 students have been admitted to this course. This is 7 more students than the actual number of seats. Students want to know why more candidates were selected than the actual capacity.

Reduced Reservation for SC/ST Categories

Indian institutes follow a reservation policy to ensure fair opportunities for all groups. For the Scheduled Caste (SC) category, 15% of seats should be reserved. For the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category, 7.5% of seats should be reserved. Students say that the revised merit list shows fewer seats for SC and ST candidates than these official percentages. This means eligible students from these groups might not get their rightful seats.

What Students Are Demanding

The students' unions have made clear demands to the Film and Television Institute of India . They want the institute to fix these problems and make the admission process fair for everyone.

  • Stop Admissions: They want the current FTII JET 2025 admission process to be paused immediately.
  • Release Clear Marks: Students demand a new merit list that clearly shows marks for both Stage 1 (written test) and Stage 2 (practical assessment) separately.
  • Follow Reservation Rules: They want FTII to ensure that the reservation policy for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories is strictly followed and corrected.
  • Increase Transparency: Students are asking for the entire admission process and policies to be made more open and clear to everyone.
  • Proper Investigation: They want FTII to look into these issues properly and take necessary action to correct the errors.

Students are waiting for FTII to respond to their demands. They hope for a transparent and fair admission process for all candidates applying for the FTII JET 2025 .
