The government plans to launch free coaching for NEET and JEE exams. This initiative targets underprivileged students. The program aims to level the playing field for competitive entrance tests. It is expected to roll out by October 2, 2026 .
Free Coaching Initiative
The Union government will establish a free coaching network. This network will prepare students for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). These exams are critical for admission to engineering and medical colleges nationwide.
The program prioritizes students from economically weaker sections. It also focuses on students in areas with limited access to quality coaching facilities. Millions of students currently lack affordable access to preparation resources.
Technology and Implementation
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Education are leading the project. MeitY will develop a technology and AI-enabled learning platform. The Ministry of Skill Development will assist in platform construction.
The Ministry of Education will provide academic support. This includes sourcing teaching resources from schools and universities. This collaborative approach aims to deliver comprehensive academic guidance.
Access and Delivery
The coaching program will incorporate multiple access methods. While online classes are planned, provisions for offline and computer-based access are included. This ensures accessibility in areas with weak internet connectivity.
The initiative seeks to reduce disparities. Students who can afford expensive private coaching often have an advantage. This program aims to bridge that gap.
Future Expansion
The coaching network is planned for future expansion. It will eventually cover university entrance tests. Recruitment examinations will also be included in later phases.
Government sources state this initiative is a top priority. It aligns with youth-focused announcements made by the Prime Minister. The implementation framework is currently under preparation.
