Medical associations, led by FAIMA, have formally requested the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to intervene in issues surrounding the FMGE June 2026 examination. Candidates reported several problems, including unexpected video-based clinical questions, increased exam difficulty, and technical glitches. These concerns follow an unprecedentedly low pass rate of 12.77% for the June 2026 session.
Exam Concerns Raised
Candidates expressed significant anger over the introduction of unannounced short video-based clinical questions. This format was not previously communicated, leaving test-takers unprepared. The exam’s overall difficulty level also saw a marked increase compared to prior sessions.
Several candidates reported inadequate testing environments. Issues included non-functioning air conditioning in hot weather, lack of drinking water, and faulty computer systems. These problems were particularly noted at test centers in Noida.
Key Demands to Ministry
FAIMA and other medical associations submitted specific demands to the Ministry and the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). They are seeking transparency in the examination process. This includes the release of official answer keys and candidates’ response sheets.
The associations also called for a review of testing conditions and the video question system. They are requesting compensatory actions to address the issues faced by candidates.
Proposed Solutions
To mitigate the impact of the exam anomalies, FAIMA proposes a reduction in the qualifying cut-off score or the provision of grace marks. The current passing mark is 150. This measure aims to account for the surprise changes in the exam format and difficulty.
Transparency in marking is a central demand. The release of answer keys and individual response sheets would allow candidates to verify their scores. This could help in understanding the reasons for the low pass rate.
NBEMS Review Panel
NBEMS has established a three-member independent review panel. Air Marshal (Dr.) Pawan Kapoor (Retd.) heads this panel. The panel is expected to investigate the reported anomalies and provide recommendations. The outcomes of this review are anticipated to address the candidates' grievances.
